Sports Day at St Aloysius ITI

“Annual Sports Meet 2017-18” was held for the students of St Aloysius ITI at Gonzaga Grounds on 7th December 2017. At the beginning of the event, students displayed a splendid march past. The dignitaries were escorted to the grounds with a school band. The chief Guest of the inaugural programme Mr Pius L Rodrigues- Member of State Pollution Control Committee, hoisted the sports flag and received the Guard of Honour from the students. Principal of the institution Mr Vincent Mendonsa gave the welcome address. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest said, “Time Sense and Discipline are the stepping stones for success. This is the lesson I learned in my student life from this institution and it has helped me in achieving my goals.” He wished the students all the very best and urged them to put in their best. The sports meet was inaugurated by releasing the tri-coloured balloons in air followed by the declaration by the Chief Guest. Student representatives from each trade/batch took the oath to obey the rules and regulations of the event and participate with the spirit of sportsmanship. In his Presidential address, Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ- Rector of St Aloysius Institutions said, “Defeat and victory are common in life. One should not become too proud on success and also should not break down during failures. The victory should be accepted with level head and the failure should be taken as a stepping stone for success”. Various sports events were organised and the students participated with full energy and enthusiasm. The atmosphere at the grounds was energetic and electrifying. The blue t-shirts worn by the students with the logo of the event “Live in Harmony” printed on it, created a beautiful sight. The individual championship in the male category was won by Arun Francis siddi of Plumber trade and in the female category was won by Seemal Dsouza of Stitching Technology trade. The prize for the best march past was won by the 2nd year students of Mechanic Motor Vehicle trade. The 4 X 100 mts relay was the most spectacular event of the day. The first, second and third place in the relay were won by the students of Welder, Plumber and MMV-II respectively. The Physical Director of St Aloysius Primary School Mr Arun Baptist conducted the events along with the staff members. The Chief Guest of the concluding programme was Mr N.G.Mohan- District commissioner for Scouts & Guides. Addressing the students he said, “Hard work gets the success. Have an aim and work harder, you will be successful. Skilled manpower power is needed for the industrial growth and ITI s are the institutions which fulfil this need. Better prospects are awaiting for you if you work harder”. Addressing the gathering Rev Fr Eric Mathias SJ- Director of the institution said, “Dream, persistence and patience are three important factors to achieve success in life. Just dreaming is not enough, you need to work towards realising your dream and have patience to wait for success.” The convener of the Sports Meet Mr Noel Lobo proposed vote of thanks and thanked profusely for every one’s contribution towards the success of the event. National Anthem was sung. At the end, Sports Flag was lowered by the Chief Guest and handed over to the Principal of the institution. Junior Training Officers Mr Robin Vas and Ms Vandana compered the inaugural programme and concluding programme respectively.
